1.   Get the best product you can afford – that doesn’t mean it has to be human hair; there are very high quality synthetic wigs out there. Also wonderful mixes of human hair and synthetic.

2.   Brush, comb or fluff your wig daily – wigs will get “wiggy” looking if they are not loosened up at least once a day.

3.   Be sure wig is properly adjusted to fit you – find a stylist who can make sure your wig is not too big in the cap, a proper fit will feel better.

4.   Do follow the manufactures advice – if it is synthetic do not use heat styling products, the synthetic fiber may melt or frizz.

5.   Have a professional colorist color your human hair wig – the hair needs to be tested to see how the color will take. It is best if they have experience.

6.   Do not use a regular hairbrush on your wig – it is best to use a wide toothcomb or a vent brush for styling.

7.   Always be very careful taking food out of the oven when you have a synthetic wig on – I have seen many a frizzed or melted bang.

8.   Use styling products sparingly – a wig doesn’t get washed as often as your own hair. Most often it is washed every few weeks.

9.   If you have some hair under your wig use clips or bobby pins to secure in the wind.

10. If you do not have hair, professional two-way tape may help or think about earmuffs or a hood.
